Terms of Use
Last updated: August 12, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Indigenoustech (“LingoMate,” “we,” “us”) for use of the LingoMate mobile apps and website. By creating an account or using LingoMate, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
LingoMate is a language practice product. It helps you practice languages through conversational chat with an AI tutor (Lingo AI) and, for eligible Plus users, matching and messaging with other people (People) for language practice only. Features may include text chat, voice input, spoken replies, language/level preferences, local AI chat history, profiles, practice reminders, and a free tier with ads. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
LingoMate is not a dating app, social network for meeting offline, or marketplace. Use it to practice languages—not to solicit personal relationships, money, or private contact details.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use Lingo AI. People chat is available only to users who are 18 or older and have Plus. You must provide an accurate birth date. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
4. Free tier, Plus, and purchases
LingoMate may offer a free tier with daily usage limits and ads, and a paid Plus plan with additional features (for example higher limits, ad-free use, enhanced voice, and People chat). Pricing, benefits, and availability may change. Purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play are also subject to those stores’ terms and billing rules. Refunds are handled according to the store’s policies unless required otherwise by law.
5. People chat and safety
People chat connects you with other users so you can practice languages together. Keep conversations on language practice. Treat others respectfully.
In People chat (and when using LingoMate with other users), you agree not to:
- Ask for or share private contact details—including phone numbers, email addresses, home or work addresses, or government ID numbers.
- Ask someone to move the conversation off LingoMate, or share / request usernames or links for WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Discord, Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook, Signal, or similar apps.
- Ask for or send money, payment app handles, gift cards, crypto wallets, or other financial details.
- Use People chat for dating, solicitation, scams, harassment, sexual content involving minors, or any purpose other than language practice.
We may filter or block messages that violate these rules. You may report or block other users. We may restrict or remove accounts that receive repeated reports or that we believe create safety risk. You interact with strangers at your own risk. If someone asks for private contact details or tries to take you off the app, do not comply—report and block them.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use LingoMate for unlawful, harmful, harassing, or abusive purposes.
- Use LingoMate for anything other than language practice in ways that put other users at risk (including fishing for private contact information).
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, paywalls, age gates, message filters, ad systems, or security controls.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the service except where allowed by law.
- Upload malware or interfere with other users or our infrastructure.
- Share content that infringes others’ rights or that you do not have the right to send.
- Use the AI to generate content you present as human professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or similar) without appropriate human review.
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or created risk for users or the service.
7. AI and content
AI replies can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. LingoMate is for language practice, not professional instruction or certification. You are responsible for how you use AI outputs. You retain rights to content you submit; you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, and transmit that content solely to operate and improve the service (including through our AI and infrastructure providers).
8. Intellectual property
LingoMate, including its name, branding, design, software, and documentation, is owned by Indigenoustech or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute our materials except as needed for normal use of the app or as permitted by law.
9. Third-party services
LingoMate relies on third parties such as Firebase, Google AI, AdMob, Apple, and Google Play. Their services are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages or policies outside our control.
10. Disclaimers
LingoMate is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free AI output, or specific learning outcomes.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Indigenoustech and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of LingoMate. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for LingoMate in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD 50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify Indigenoustech against claims, damages, and expenses arising from your misuse of LingoMate or violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
13. Termination
You may stop using LingoMate at any time and may request account deletion by contacting support. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Provisions that by nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive termination.
14. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may also provide additional notice in the app or by email when practical. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where Indigenoustech principally operates, without regard to conflict of law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise. Courts in that jurisdiction will have exclusive venue for disputes, subject to those mandatory protections.
